1 ) Remove the collar on both sides of the door. This is that ring of metal flush against the door inside of the doorknob. Locate the two screws on the inside of the door and unscrew it or sometimes you can just pry it off if no screws are present.

2 ) Take out the two screws on the inside that are holding the doorknobs together.

3 ) Remove both doorknobs, by pulling apart.

4 ) Take out the two screws holding the locking mechanism and remove the bolt.

5 ) Check the strike plate. This is the strike plate on the outside of the doorknob. If it looks ok and fits then leave it, otherwise replace it with the one that came with the set.

6 ) Place the new bolt in the door and screw it into place. Make sure that the bolt is facing the correct way - the slanted side faces the right way so the door will close.

7 ) Place the collars on both sides of the doorknobs, on the inside of each. Place them correctly so the screws are on the right side. Screw in both sides of the long screws and the collar screws evenly.
